Not native. The peacock that lives in the canyon district above the harbor is descended from a pair that escaped from a private garden sometime in the 1970s, and has been establishing itself here ever since. Bold. Rich. Slightly feral in the way of things that adapted to a place they weren't designed for and then became, over time, inseparable from it. As California as anything that decided to stay.
