Elbert County has been growing peaches since before it had a precise account of itself. The branch is heavy. The gingham says: kitchen window, August morning, something being put up for later in the day when the light is different and there is nothing else to do but preserve things.
This is the farmhouse piece of the collection — the peach botanical in its most grounded register. Prunus persica against a sage gingham ground: warm, specific, the print that makes a kitchen feel like a room with a point of view. The one the orchard would hang in its own kitchen, if the orchard had a kitchen, which it might.
