The banana leaf pattern on the walls of the Paloma Club predates everything — the bar, the current owners, the current name. By four o'clock the leaves go gold at the edges. Set a glass down and the whole thing makes sense: it was always meant to hold something worth having. For anyone who understands that some rooms have always been beautiful.
