The Garden Instigator · South Carolina
The evening has been arranged.
Eloise doesn’t decorate. She curates. Every stem in every vase at Whitmore House has been considered — not fussed over, but considered. There’s a difference, and she’ll tell you so, usually while pouring something generous into a glass that’s already mostly full.
She grew up on the land her grandmother’s grandmother named, and she’s never seen a reason to leave it for long. The house has fifteen rooms and she uses all of them. The garden has no borders she respects. The cicadas come whether she invites them or not, and she stopped fighting that particular argument somewhere around age thirty.
“The cicadas are not nature. They are the sound of things surfacing.”
Bloom + Bourbon is her world — unhurried, layered, and lit from within by something that has nothing to do with electricity. It smells like gardenias and old wood and the kind of bourbon that doesn’t need a label. It sounds like the screen door you forgot to fix. It feels like the specific relief of taking your shoes off at the end of a night that went exactly right.
She doesn’t host. She receives.
