Continue ShoppingThe knight: carved, confident, classical. The horse in its most abstracted form — not the animal but the idea of the animal, rendered in the formal language of the game that has been using it as its most interesting piece for eight hundred years. The knight can jump anything. It moves in an L. Everyone always has to stop and remember which direction. This is part of the point — the piece that doesn't move like the others, that goes where nothing expects it to go, that arrives somewhere new before anyone has quite tracked how it got there.
Knight Chess Piece is the collection's most conceptual print — the equestrian symbol translated into game piece, in the Horse + Whiskey palette, with the graphic clarity of an object that has been thinking about itself for a very long time. For a study, a library, a room where the walls should say something specific about how the occupant approaches a problem. The print for the collector who already has the horses and wants the abstraction.
