Oregon's state tree, formally. A Douglas fir framed in laurel, berries and stars, with a sun in each corner — all four of them present at once. Drawn in the manner of a folk textile, and dignified about it. The collection's anchor, and as at home on a kitchen wall in July as it is in December.
