Let's Go To- Charlotte, North Carolina

PaperFinch Design Blog Charlotte North Carolina

Hi Finches!

It's time to go on another Micro Travel Blog adventure and we are so excited to have you following along!

Here's how it works: we believe that life is nothing without adventure, so we have been exploring the world through amazing travel photography (courtesy of a few wonderful friends). And because we want YOU to get out there and explore more, we are pulling together some fun travel tips for each location so that you can start planning your next trip!

This Micro Travel Blog is brought to you by Kristen Diaz who recently traveled to Charlotte herself.

HERE WE GO!

------

I recently visited Charlotte to explore what all my friends were talking about! They are slightly biased as they are natives to the Queen City, but after hearing about a possible move to neighboring Raleigh, they were convinced I’d fall in love with Charlotte. They were right! Home to the Panthers, Hornets and the Nascar Hall of Fame, this city packs a HUGE punch with different neighborhoods, food, art and places to go out!

Adventures: What we go ourselves into….

Our favorite adventures include taking in art at The Mint Museum in uptown. We were astonished by how stunningly curated this museum is. And it’s FOUR FLOORS! How do you stay excited on all of them? Take a look and find out!

Get a tarot reading in NoDa! There’s a cool mystic shop on the second floor of a building near the Pura Vida Worldly Art shop on the main strip. After stumbling along a sign that read “magic shop upstairs” we were tempted, went upstairs and were pleasantly surprised. If you’re into all things mystical, this is your store. The tarot reading we received was the most accurate I’ve ever had! Spooky, but cool. I’m still taken aback at experiences I’m having lately and remembering how they were mentioned in the reading.

Visit CLTCH to find the perfect new accessory to your wardrobe. Faux furs, statement purses and rings that toe onto the edgy for all our fashionista Finches! I spent a solid half hour in that store exploring. Great options for an upcoming birthday present!

Eats + Drinks: Time to slide into a food coma

There were TONS of places I wanted the chance to eat at, but there wasn’t enough time! Here’s what I got for you though:

If you’re craving a...

Southern meal: Dish

Asian Fusion: eeZ Fusion & Sushi

Burgers & Beer: Moo & Brew

Latin cuisine: Roasting Company

Brunch: Zada Jane’s Corner Cafe

Coffee: Queen City Grounds

A PBR: The Thirsty Beaver

Not one of these places disappointed! Safe to say that Charlotte has some good vibes in the hospitality department.

Remote Work: Because some of us need to work a little on vacation

Wondering how I kept up work while enjoying the beautiful city? Meet Hygge! I had the opportunity to explore this industrial chic space on a guest pass.  I was introduced to the space by one of the founders, who showed me all the comfy spots, conference rooms, offices and open space to settle in!

Choosing a nice table towards the back for optimum focus, I worked steadily for a couple hours before taking a break to pet one of the resident small business owners' dog and strike up a conversation with another Charlotte transplant. Perfect amount of comfort, productivity and friendly people.

Overall, my two favorite neighborhoods? Plaza Midwood and NoDa, but there’s not a wrong place to go in Charlotte either. One of the places I’ll be heading to next time I’m there? McTabby’s Cat Cafe. You can thank me later cat peeps. Now go and enjoy the next time your travels land you in the Queen City!
